Tū Kaha 2018 returns to the Manawatū where it first began. This conference promotes an opportunity for reflection, regrouping and moving forward with more vigour and enthusiasm – to better improve Māori health.
This premise is captured by the overarching theme which is based on a kōrero by Tā Hēmi Henare:
“Kua tawhiti kē to haerenga mai, kia kore e haere tonu. He tino nui rawa ou mahi, kia kore e mahi nui tonu”.
“You have come too far, not to go further. You have done too much, not to do more”
As Tū Kaha begins its second round among the Central Region District Health Board regions, the 2018 kaupapa encourages everyone to reflect on previous endeavours, to reorganise if necessary and to move forward with additional earnest and drive.
This principle informs the streams of the conference, that are linked to the awa of the region, which include:
Iwi and Māori provider development
Advancing the Māori equity agenda and owning it
